Thermal Transmittance Value

The R-values for Prodex ESD 5, configured to create two equal-depth enclosed reflective air spaces, have been calculated for wood-frame assemblies. These assemblies include ½-inch thick gypsum sheathing with a thermal resistance of 0.55 ft²·h·°F/Btu, enclosing the horizontal plane beneath the wood-frame assembly. The emittance of the gypsum surfaces is assumed to be 0.90. The air-to-air thermal resistance for a cavity depth of 9.250 inches and spacing between framing elements of 60 inches has been calculated. These values represent the thermal resistance within the region enclosed between the framing elements, extending from exterior air to interior air, and do not include heat flow through the framing.
